Autism Intervention Program

This program is for students aged Kindergarten to Year 2 with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) diagnosis.

It is an opportunity for students with ASD to gradually transition to a mainstream setting within a two year period with the support of highly experienced staff. The maximum time students can participate in the program is two years with many moving to full attendance at their local mainstream school before the end of that period.

Students have a unique shared enrolment by initially attending Arranounbai school four days each week and a local mainstream school each Wednesday.

Support is provided to the local mainstream school to maintain a productive transition as each student gradually increases their days at their local school over the two year period.

During their time at Arranounbai students build their competence with targeted goals for communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and behaviour alongside all curriculum Key Learning Areas (KLA) and requirements.

The maximum number of students in the class is seven allowing for highly individualised learning.

Positive reinforcement, social stories and calming strategies are utilised to assist each student to increase their own confidence to request assistance or manage a concerning situation. Review meetings are held twice a year to ensure all support services involved with the student are focused on attaining the same goals.

See our Enrolment page for further information.
