Sports day
Once a year, Arranounbai students eagerly participate in our annual Sports Day Carnival. This day promotes physical activity, teamwork and fun! The carnival features six exciting and accessible events: sprint, bocce, basketball, obstacle course, javelin and relay. Each activity is designed to be accessible, fun and encourage engagement.
A special highlight of our Sports Day is the strong partnership we have with St Luke’s Grammar School. Thanks to this valued volunteer relationship, the event is held on a Thursday each year, allowing St Luke’s students to be there to support, cheer on, and participate alongside our students. Creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.

CPA Cafe Visits
We are very fortunate to have the Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA) as our neighbours, and our students love visiting their welcoming café on a regular basis. Each visit gives students the chance to practise important communication and social skills as they order their own food and drinks. These experiences build confidence and independence, while also encouraging positive interactions with the wider community. The walk to and from the café is part of our PDHPE program, supporting students’ health and wellbeing by keeping them active, moving their bodies, and enjoying the fresh air. Students chat with one another, try new foods, and develop skills that they can use in everyday life. These café trips are not only educational but also a highlight of the week, combining community access, physical activity, and fun in a meaningful way.
Specialised classes
Art
The Visual Arts program at Arranounbai School helps students express their creativity while learning important skills like communication, decision-making, and fine motor control. It includes lessons about the local Indigenous D’harawal seasons and cultural events, which help students connect with and respect their community’s culture.
Students explore a wide range of interesting topics that encourage creativity and artistic growth. The focus is on enjoying the creative process rather than being perfect. Lessons promote teamwork, confidence, and using senses to explore different materials and textures.
Each week, students participate in hands-on art activities, watch videos, read books, and listen to music. This program supports all learners and helps students grow as artists and active members of their community.
Music
The Music program at Arranounbai School offers students exciting opportunities to sing, play instruments, and move expressively across many different styles of music. Students learn important music ideas like duration (how long notes last), pitch (high or low sounds), dynamics (loud and soft), tone colour, and structure.
Classes include hands-on instrument activities, interactive whiteboard lessons, movement exercises, and listening to a variety of music. The program is designed to support all kinds of learners. It also helps students develop social skills like sharing, taking turns, and working together. Through rhythm activities and coordinated playing, students improve their ability to feel the beat while growing both musically and socially.
Library
The Arranounbai library provides a welcoming and inclusive space where all students can access resources tailored to their individual strengths and interests. Weekly library lessons foster a love of reading, develop literacy skills, and build confidence in using a range of texts for learning and enjoyment. The library program is closely linked to the InitiaLit program, reinforcing early literacy skills through carefully selected books and activities that support phonemic awareness, vocabulary, and comprehension. By integrating literacy learning with curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking, the library plays a vital role in helping students become capable, independent learners.
Food Tech
Our Food Technology program provides students with practical, hands-on learning experiences that build independence, confidence, and essential everyday life skills. Designed to meet the diverse needs of our school community, the program supports students in developing their understanding of food, nutrition, and safe kitchen practices. Through structured, step-by-step lessons, students learn to plan, prepare, and cook simple, healthy meals while building literacy, numeracy, and communication skills. The Food Technology program helps students develop the practical skills needed for everyday living and future independence.
