Therapy support

Communication and Engagement is our core business at Arranounbai. That is why we fund the following therapists to guide our education team in providing the best support for our students.

Anna Bech - Speech pathologist

Anna is an experienced speech pathologist with over 25 years specialising in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). At Arranounbai School, she works closely with teachers to identify and develop tailored communication goals for each student, supporting skill development across all learning environments. Anna aids in planning, implementing, and embedding individual and class-based AAC programs, helping students access communication methods such as technology, Key Word Sign, and multimodal strategies. She regularly delivers professional learning sessions to teachers and School Learning Support Officers, enhancing their confidence and skills in AAC use. Collaborating with the therapy team and external professionals, Anna ensures a holistic, student-centred approach to communication and learning that fosters meaningful participation and growth.

Rebecca Burrell - Occupational therapy

Function & Flow Therapy is a local occupational therapy service working at Arranounbai School to support identified students and consult with teachers to improve participation and engagement in learning and social settings. Our occupational therapist collaborates closely with teachers and support staff to help students develop essential skills. This includes creating strategies that help students stay calm, focused, and ready to learn through regulation and sensory support. They promote independence with everyday tasks like self-care, classroom involvement, and moving around school. They also encourage communication, cooperation, and positive peer interactions through structured and play-based activities to build social and play skills. In addition, classroom tasks, materials, and environments are adapted to ensure every student can engage fully. Function & Flow Therapy focuses on each child’s strengths, abilities, interests, and sensory needs to create opportunities for success.

Jill Hellemans - Behaviour Analyst

As the school’s Behaviour Analyst, I spend one day a week working across classrooms to boost learning and engagement for all students. I collaborate with educators, therapists, and leaders to embed trauma-informed, neurodiverse-affirming practices that support student success.

Using evidence-based frameworks like Essentials for Living, I help teams set meaningful goals and implement strategies to improve communication, independence, and emotional wellbeing. This includes designing proactive supports, coaching staff on behaviour responses, and tailoring interventions to each student’s needs.

Grounded in empathy and respect, I work with teachers to create inclusive environments by adapting routines, curriculum, and social opportunities. Our focus at Arranounbai is connection—understanding students’ communication and fostering a safe, supportive space where every learner feels engaged, valued, and able to thrive.
