Enrolment enquiries
We are a School for Specific Purpose (SSP). We provide specialised support for students with Medium / High Support needs. Learn more about Schools for Specific Purposes (SSPs).
How to enrol
Enrolment into an SSP is different from other public schools. It involves a referral and placement process. If you believe an SSP may be the right setting for your child, your local school is the first place to start. They will work with you to understand your child’s needs and help you explore the right support options available.
- Find your local school: you can use School Finder to locate your local public school.
- Discuss support pathways: talk to your local school about available support pathways for your child.
Enrolment in an SSP is considered when:
- your child has significant and ongoing support needs
- they meet the department’s disability criteria
- this type of specialist support is the most appropriate.
For placement in an SSP, your child's current school must submit an application called an access request. This is done in consultation with the family. A local placement panel then reviews the application and makes a recommendation.
Learn more about access requests.
School tours
School tours for parents are held regularly throughout the year.
Accepting an offer
If you receive an offer of a place at Arranounbai School, you have 7 working days to accept the placement. Once we receive your acceptance, we will contact you with important enrolment and transition information.
Enrolment Steps
- Enrolment Interview
This meeting covers the formal enrolment process, including completing paperwork and gathering information to support your child’s learning and wellbeing at Arranounbai. - Student Skill Exploration
While parents attend the enrolment interview, your child will take part in a range of play-based activities. This helps us assess skills and create a personalised learning plan tailored to your child’s needs. - Medical Team Plan Meeting
For students with significant medical needs—such as the use of feeding tubes, pumps, or emergency medication—a meeting is held to develop a comprehensive Health Support in School Plan. - Orientation Session
Orientation sessions provide an opportunity for your child to meet their teacher and become familiar with their classroom environment. - Transition Timetable
In consultation with you, we will create a transition timetable designed to best support your child’s smooth adjustment to school life.
Contact us if you have questions about our programs, orientation process or how we work with families.
